So after a nap we headed out to explore the area and find a place for dinner. We settled on La Coupole. The service was impeccable and the food was incredible.
We started with a glass of bubbles and then onto the mixed seafood plate. Salmon, scallops and cod were cooked to perfection. Sauteed in a light mix of olive oil, dill, lemon and onion with tomatoes. The skin on the fish was crispy and the scallops melted in your mouth. The meats sat on and among sauteed spinach and new potatoes.
A lovely Sancerre accompanied the meal and lent its minerality and pear flavors to the dish.
Dessert was indeed a treat! Brenda had creme brulee and I had a cheese plate that showed off one of the many things the French do well - fromage. Camembert, a light blue cheese, a chevre and a runny cheese were nothing short of amazing!
Needless to say. We both slept well.
